QFX5120 with blinking Amber lights/leds on some of their fans

A blinking amber led means: The switch has detected an error in the fan module. Either the fan has failed or it is seated incorrectly. Replace the fan module as soon as possible. To maintain proper airflow through the chassis, leave the fan module installed in the chassis until you are ready to replace it.

• Reseat the FANs – remove the fans with the amber lights from the chassis and then re-insert them.

The fan modules are hot-removable and hot-insertable field-replaceable units (FRUs) installed in the rear panel of the switch: You can remove and replace them without powering off the switch or disrupting switch functions.

1. Place the antistatic bag or the antistatic mat on a flat, stable surface.
2. Loosen the captive screws on the front faceplate of the fan module by using the screwdriver.
3. Grasp the handle on the fan module and pull it firmly to slide the fan module out of the chassis.

WARNING: To prevent injury, do not touch the fan with your hands or any tools as you slide the fan module out of the chassis—the fan might still be running.
