Description

This article explains that the "HSL2 FCT LU Protect: Multiple Errors" message indicates a problem in the LU HSL2 FCT (high-speed transmission) links.

Symptoms

When an "HSL2 FCT LU Protect: Multiple Errors" event occurs, a message similar to the following is reported:

Solution

No service impact may be seen when there just one or two occurrences. However, service impact may be observed if the errors are constantly reported.

The above message indicates ​a parity error in the buffer memory on the XM(or MQ) chip for the HSL2 high-speed link with LU(or XL) chip. This parity error is considered a transient hardware issue.

To resolve the issue, restart the problematic Flexible PIC Concentrator (FPC) during a Maintenance Window.

To restart the FPC:

user@RE0> request chassis fpc (offline | online | restart) slot <slot-number>

In this example, FPC7 reported the error:

user@RE0> request chassis fpc restart slot 7

If the issue does not resolve after restart, that is, if the errors continue to occur after FPC restart, contact Support to open a case.

Collect the following logs to provide to JTAC for faster issue analysis.

Note: Replace fpc7 with the fpc#, which reported the error.

> request pfe execute command "show hsl2 statistics" target fpc7

Also upload the RSI (request support information) and complete /var/log when opening the case.
