Solution

The purpose for using a Tunnel Interface feature' is for the following:

1)To allow' local network & remote network access should BOTH reside on the same network segment. (Overlapping Sub-nets)

2)To "masquerade" or hide the true source IP address of the local network when sending/receiving traffic through the tunnel interface vpn from the remote network .
