Cannot Enable NSM Agent on the Firewall

Symptoms


Solution

When the command "set nsmgmt enable" is executed on the command line of the firewall, the following message is displayed:

No server/ID configured. NSM agent remains disabled.

This problem occurs when the firewall is not configured with the NetScreen-Security Manager (NSM) agent information. In addition, this problem will occur if the NSM agent is enabled on the firewall without adding the device on the NSM server.

To configure the device with the NSM agent information and add the device to the NSM server, perform the following steps:

alt Connect to NSM. For more information on this, go to Connecting to the NetScreen-Security Manager [juniper.net] .

alt Expand Device Manager , and click to select FW/VPN Devices .

alt From the FW/VPN Device Tree tab, right-click the firewall, and then click RMA Device .

alt From the Confirm RMA Device dialog box, click OK .

alt Right-click the device, and then click Activate Device .

alt In the Firewall/VPN Device dialog box, click to select Device deployed and IP is reachable , and then click Next .

alt From the Connect To Device With drop-down menu, click to select the new connection method, and then click Next .

note The device is auto detected and activated.

alt Right-click the device, and click Update Device .
