Solution

note There are two scenarios wherein a new device admin may be added using templates:

 

To add a new firewall device admin in NSM with an existing template, perform the following steps:

alt Connect to the NetScreen-Security Manager. For more information on this, go to Connecting to the NetScreen-Security Manager [juniper.net] .

alt Expand Device Manager , and then click to select FW/VPN Devices .

alt Under FW/VPN Device Tree , right-click the device to which you want to add the new device admin, and click Edit .

alt Expand Info , and then click to select Templates .

alt Under Templates , click the Edit button.

alt From the Edit templates dialog box, click to clear the defined template. Click OK .

alt Click OK .

alt From the Devices menu, select Configuration , and then click Import Admins .

alt Expand Device Admin , and then click to select Administrators .

alt Under Local Administrators , click the New button.

alt From the New Administrator Name dialog box, in the Administrator Name text box, enter a name for the new admin account. Click Set Password , and specify a password for the new admin account.

alt Click OK .

alt Expand Info , and then click to select Templates .

alt Under Templates , click the Edit button.

alt From the Edit templates dialog box, click to select the defined template. Click OK .

alt Click OK .

alt Right-click the device, and then click Update Device .

note The commands to create the new device admin are sent to the device.


To add a new firewall device admin in NSM when there is no template present, perform the following steps:

alt Connect to the NetScreen-Security Manager. For more information on this, go to Connecting to the NetScreen-Security Manager [juniper.net] .

alt Expand Device Manager , and then click to select FW/VPN Device Templates .

alt Under Device Template Tree , click the New button.

alt Expand Device Admin , and then click to select Administrators .

alt Under Local Administrators , click the New button.

alt From the New Administrator Name dialog box, in the Administrator Name text box, enter a name for the new admin account. Click Set Password , and specify a password for the new admin account.
