Description

Why Does NSM Show a Different OS Version Than What is on the Device?

Symptoms

Solution

Note: This article applies to ScreenOS 4.0 and higher.

If NSM shows a different OS version, you may have a mismatch in the OS version detected by the NSM Device Monitor compared to what is actually on the device. This may occur because the device was not upgraded using NSM and probably upgraded either via the WebUI or by a TFTP server. To resolve this, you will need to adjust the NSM's OS version of the device.

To adjust the OS version of a device in NSM, perform the following steps:

alt Connect to NetScreen Security Manager. For more information, go to Connecting to the NetScreen Security Manager [juniper.net] .

alt From NSM, click to expand Device Manager, and then click to select FW/VPN Devices .

alt From FW/VP Device Tree, right-click your device, and then click to select Adjust OS Version .

alt Click Next .

note NSM will now autodetect the OS version of the device and update its database. You may see a message saying no adjustment is necessary. NSM will still have the record updated for Device Monitor.

alt To confirm the OS version has updated, click to expand Realtime Monitor , and then click to select Device Monitor .

note The Device Monitor will display the OS Version of each device.
