This article clarifies that even though users can change the hostname of a Junos Space server, it must not be modified or changed by manual intervention because it is predefined and auto-assigned to the server during deployment. Any such modifications can result in multiple services failing to start correctly the next time that Junos Space is restarted.

The Junos Space CLI/OS level hostname is assigned as shown below:

•  JA2500/HW Deployment: The hostname is " space- <Device Serial Number> ".

• For example: space-0319072016000030

• VM Deployment: The hostname is " space- <MAC Address> ".

• For example: space-001122334455

The Junos Space CLI level hostname is predefined and should not be modified by users. It is auto-assigned to the Junos Space server during deployment depending on the type of platform.

Junos Space does  NOT support  changing the hostname. If users change the Linux hostname, multiple services may fail to start correctly the next time that Junos Space is restarted.

However, users can specify a name for the Junos Space node during deployment. The Junos Space node name is visible only in the WebUI node list under Administration > Fabric .
