This article explains the meaning of the syslog message "Cmerror : kd_par1 detected_facetbuffer0 error" that is seen on MX and PTX Series routers. Since the error is a transient parity error, it usually clears on its own.

The following log message may be seen followed by a major alarm on the chassis.

These are parity errors in the internal SRAM memory of the Flexible PIC Concentrator (FPC). The errors are considered to be transient in nature and should clear automatically.

Usually these errors should clear on their own. No RMA would be required too.

Perform a reboot of the FPC during a maintenance window, if the errors do not clear automatically. Contact Support with the following show command outputs if the issue is seen even after FPC reboot. Capture the output to a file.

• show log chassisd

• start shell network pfe <fpc#>

• show nvram

• show syslog messages

• exit
