SONiC (Software for Open Networking in the Cloud) is an open source SDN which is owned by the Open Compute Project (OCP), but still largely controlled by Microsoft. It is a mixture of open source software, Juniper software, and Juniper hardware.
This article explains the prerequisites for ONIE/SONiC installation on PTX10008 and boot sequence.
Prerequisites based on ‘Doon’ RCB, with the following changes:
New SKU: JNP10K-RE1-S128 TLV formatted Id EEPROM info – required by ONiE Secure Boot disabled in BIOS – to boot unsigned SONIC images
SONiC release includes:
Released version of cEVO Released version of cRPD SONiC software Debian Linux kernel and packages ONiE installer / loader
