In the NorthStar Controller Getting Started Guide, under NorthStar Controller System Requirements , disk and memory requirements are documented, but there is no guideline on how to partition it. This article provides a few best practices to keep in mind when partitioning a server hard drive.
When partitioning a server hard drive, keep in mind that most of the data from NorthStar will be written as follows:
/opt : program and data files (70%) /var: core files (15%) /tmp: temporary files (15%)
It is recommended to allocate the majority of your capacity to these partitions if they are specifically created in dedicated partitions.
