Host 0/1 CPU Temperature Warm

Symptoms

The following isseen on the device:  

XX@XXXX> show chassis alarms no-forwarding
2020-05-18 20:00:16 CEST Minor Host 0 Temperature Warm
The following logs are seen on the device: 
Jul 12 20:01:16  XXXX craftd[1291]:  Minor alarm set, Host 0 Temperature Warm
Jul 12 20:01:21  XXXX craftd[1291]: Minor alarm cleared, Host 0 Temperature Warm
Jul 12 20:01:26  XXXX craftd[1291]:  Minor alarm set, Host 0 Temperature Warm

Solution

The minor alarm ' Host 0 Temperature Warm ' appears when the Routing Engine CPU temperature is above the TCONTROL threshold. This may also happen due to the surrounding external temperature. If the alarm has occurred and cleared on its own then it is a transient issue. If the alarm is active on the device, then you need to clear the alarm by performing the steps below.

  1. Check the surrounding external temperature conditions where the device is placed and try to normalize it.
    In Host 0/1 CPU Temperature Warm - 0 for Host 0 (RE0) and 1 for Host 1 (RE1)

  2. Collect the command outputs below for the effected RE: 

    > show chassis temperature-thresholds
> show chassis environment

    No recovery action is required by the user. Based on the temperature, the fan speed is changed to cool the system, thereby reducing the temperature.

  3. Perform a physical inspection of the site and verify if something is blocking the airflow and perform a cleaning of the air-filters.

If the alarm does not clear even after monitoring the RE, then contact JTAC Support for further investigation.
