This article clarifies that the MACsec feature is not supported on Virtual Chassis ports in EX Series devices, and indicates that the feature can be configured on supported switch interfaces when these switches are configured in a Virtual Chassis or Virtual Chassis Fabric (VCF).
Switching devices that support MACsec include EX3400, EX4200, EX4300, EX4550, EX4600, EX9200, QFX5100, QFX10008, and QFX10016.
The MACsec feature can be configured on supported switch interfaces when these switches are configured in a Virtual Chassis or Virtual Chassis Fabric (VCF), including when MACsec-supported interfaces are on member switches in a mixed Virtual Chassis or VCF, which includes switch interfaces that do not support MACsec.
MACsec cannot be enabled on Virtual Chassis Ports (VCPs) to secure traffic between member switches in a Virtual Chassis or VCF.
