This article explains why some of the new CTP2000 platforms may boot with the Ethernet links in the "down" state, and indicates that a new kernel is available to resolve the issue.

If you have received a new CTP2000 platform (which comes with a PP833 Processor) and boot it off CTPOS 9.0R1, it is possible that the Ethernet ports will not "link up."

New CTP2000 platforms are now shipping with the latest "03" Processor card, which is also called a "PP833" Processor. However, Engineering has determined that in some of these platforms, the IGB Ethernet driver may load in error. If this happens, none of the Ethernet ports will come up and all the links will be down.

It is not known what percentage of the new CTP2000 platforms are affected.

A new kernel is available that will resolve this issue should you need it. The new kernel will be rolled into the CTPOS 9.0R2 release but you can get the kernel prior to the release by opening a Technical Service Request .

The steps to manually install the new kernel will be provided with the new software. When the new kernel is installed, the datestamp of the CTPOS version will change to the highlighted version below:
