Description

This article explains why users may find that the CTPView VM is not accessible or configurable and points out that the NIC type must be chosen carefully while creating the ESXi VM to resolve this problem.

Symptoms

The CTPView VM is not accessible or configurable.

Solution

When an ESXi VM is being created for CTPView, the NIC type chosen must be "E1000." If you choose this setting, the IP address and mask can be configured and the CTPView VM will be accessible over the network after it is created.

If you choose any other NIC type, you will not be given the opportunity to configure the NIC and the CTPView VM will not be reachable. If this occurs, simply change the NIC type to "E1000" or delete the VM and re-create it.
