Description

Starting in CTPOS 9.0R1, two boot partitions are available to users, which can have different CTPOS image versions to boot from.

This article covers the image options that are available to boot from, which will vary depending on the release that the CTP is presently running (CTPOS 7.x or 9.0R1).

Solution

  • If you have upgraded your CTP to CTPOS 9.0R1, you will have already run the dual image script, which is part of that release. This would have created two partitions that will allow the existing CTPOS image (must be CTPOS 7.1 or later) and a new one for CTPOS 9.0R1. It would then conclude by booting off of the CTPOS 9.0R1 release. 

  • Upon logging in to the CTPOS 9.0R1 CLI menu, you will notice that there is a new "option 7) Dual Image Boot Operations." If you choose this option, you will have the ability to change the primary boot image to the CTPOS 7.1 (or later) release that you started with, which will be followed by a reboot.

  • If you log in again, you will not see an "option 7" because this option was not part of the earlier release. However, you can still switch back to the CTPOS 9.0R1 release but you must do it manually at boot time. To do that, you will need console access and you will need to reboot. While the reboot happens, you will see the grub loader screen appear:

  • To boot off of the CTPOS 9.0R1 image quickly, press the down arrow key once, and then press Enter. CTP will now boot off of the CTPOS 9.0R1 image. If you wish to change back to the CTPOS 7.x release, "option 7" will re-appear in the CTPOS 9.0R1 CLI menu.
