This article discusses a scenario where the BMACSEC error is continuously logged. This error has no impact on service and can be safely ignored. It can also be suppressed if you do not want it to continue getting logged.
When Media Access Control Security (MACsec) has a connection between the EX3400 and any other switch, the following BMACSEC error is continuously logged:
dc-pfe: BMACSEC Error: API bmacsec_event_handler((int)macsec_addr) at bcm_macsec_event_handler:562 -> Invalid parameter
The MACSec connection will be encrypted. However, this error is only seen on the EX3400 switch. It may not be seen on any other EX switch.
This error message is caused by additional debugging enabled in Junos starting with version 18.2.
It is seen only with EX3400 due to the chipset it has with the software version combination.
This error message does not impact service and can be safely ignored.
