Description

On MX150 Series routers, IFD (xe-0/0/10, xe-0/0/11) status is Up without any fibers if an SFP+(10G) is inserted in sfp-0/0/10 (Xcvr 10) or sfp-0/0/11(Xcvr 11). This unexpected behavior is seen if an SFP+(10G) is wrongly installed in Xcv 10 or Xcv 11 under FPC 0.

This article describes the correct way to install the hardware and avoid such behavior.

Symptoms

The issue is demonstrated as follows:

Solution

This unexpected behavior is seen if an SFP+(10G) is wrongly installed in Xcv 10 or Xcv 11 under FPC 0.

Refer to " Figure 2: MX150 Front Panel Components " on page 19 of MX150 Universal Routing Platform Hardware Guide .

Xcvr 10 and Xcvr 11 support only SFP(1G).
Xcvr 12 and Xcvr 13 support SFP(1G) and SFP+(10G).

To avoid unexpected behavior as indicated above, install the hardware correctly as shown:
