When an ACX device (with N_PE role) is discovered in Junos Space Connectivity Services Director (CSD), it appears as a P device as opposed to an N_PE device. The issue is seen to persist even after the ACX device is deleted and rediscovered in an attempt to resolve the problem.

Note: The problem is seen on CSD releases 2.2R1 and earlier.

This article gives the cause for the device to appear as a P device and advises on the best solution to resolve the problem.

Note that in the following image, TDM1 and TDM2 are ACX1000 devices that appear as P devices instead of N_PE devices.

The root cause of the issue was seen to be a failure in the condition to check the platform for ACX devices.

This issue was documented as a defect in PR1370737 and has been fixed in CSD release 3.0 and later.

To resolve the issue, upgrade to the CSD release (CSD 3.0 or later) in which the fix is available.
