Description

This article addresses the question: "Are there Application-Identification release notes that tell us what new applications have been added to a Protocol Bundle?" and also explains how to determine the following:

  • The App-ID version that I am running

  • The Protocol Bundle version

 

Solution

When a new Protocol Bundle is released, new applications and bugs are addressed in the new Protocol Bundle, and a Release Note Document is published. The release notes are published with the Application-Identification version as the descriptor. To show the Application-Identification database version and Protocol Bundle, use the operational command show services application-identification status :

In the above example, the device is on Application-Identification DB version 3138, and the Protocol Bundle version is 1.340.
