Description

This article provides the cause for PIC 0 information to not show in the show chassis hardware output when SFP-T is plugged in to QFX5200-48Y chassis, and suggests the best way to resolve the issue.

Symptoms

On QFX5200-48Y that is running Junos OS 18.1R2.6, if SFP-T is mistakenly plugged in to the chassis, the show chassis hardware output does not show PIC 0 information.

Before plugging in the SFT-T, the FPC is showing in the show chassis hardware output.

Solution

It has been observed that the TVP driver pointers are not initialized with the NULL pointer, which is resulting in the PIC 0 information not being displayed in the output of show chassis hardware .

The issue has been fixed in Junos OS release 18.4. Since the root cause of this issue is having mistakenly plugged in the SFP-T port, the workaround is to simply remove it.

Note: SFP-T is a copper module optic that the QFX5200-48Y device does not support. SFP-T can be plugged in to any chassis that supports copper model optics.

For the interface modules that are supported on QFX5200-48Y, refer to QFX5200-48Y .
