The short-reach feature can be enabled for individual as well as a range of copper-based 10-Gigabit Ethernet interfaces by using short cable lengths on a QFX5100-48T switch, and reduces power consumption up to 5W on these interfaces.
This article explains how to confirm that the "short-reach" feature is enabled or disabled on QFX5100 switches.
To determine whether the short-reach feature is enabled or disabled, run the following commands and look for the mode specified:
Mode 1 indicates that the short-reach feature is enabled:
