Description

This article describes how to create a bootable USB for JSA by using the Create-USB-Install-Key (CUIK) tool.  This process works for versions 2014.6R1 and below.

 

Solution

To create a bootable USB drive on Microsoft Windows, the following prerequisites must be ensured before proceeding with the steps:

  • 4 GB USB flash drive

  • The CUIK software

  • PeaZip Portable 4.8.1

  • Syslinux 4.06

  • ISO to be installed

 

Steps to Create the Bootable USB

  1. Unzip CUIK.589997-2014.zip .

  1. Cut or copy and paste the peazip_portable-4.8.1.WINDOWS.zip and syslinux-4.06.zip files in the ..\cuik\deps folder.

  1. Connect the USB flash drive to the computer/laptop. Verify and confirm the drive that is displaying on “My computer/This PC.”

  1. Right-click cuik.exe and select "Run as administrator."

  1. The following screen appears:

  1. Press Enter. The following options appear:

  1. Choose option (1) Select installation ISO. In the dialog box to browse for the ISO, select the correct ISO.

  1. Observe that the selected ISO path is now set in option 1. Choose option (2) Select USB disk.

  1. Select option (1) D:\ (the USB disk).

  1. The following screen appears. Choose option (3) Create USB key:

  1. Press Enter and continue.

  1. A warning appears again. Type “ create ” and press Enter.

  • Formatting starts and the process takes some time to complete.

  • The USB key is now successfully created.

  1. Press Enter, and then enter q to exit the program.

The USB can now be removed to re-image the JSA device.
