Description

Sometimes, depending on the Junos Space Network Management Platform  version, a recommended patch might be available to fix specific bugs or security issues on Junos Space Network Management Platform. This article provides the steps to install a patch.

Solution

  1. Download the patch for the specific Junos Space Network Management Platform version you are running from the Juniper download website:   https://www.juniper.net/support/downloads/space.html
  2. Check for patch specific release notes, if available, for any differences for this process before following the instructions below.
  3. Important: Confirm you have a recent database backup (in case a rollback is required).
  4. Install the patch using one of the two following methods:

    Method 1
Install only from the VIP node. This procedure assumes you have the same username/password for all the nodes in the cluster, and SCP between nodes works.
    1. Transfer the [ PATCH_NAME].tgz under /home/admin (using Winscp, filezilla, etc).
    2. Untar the file:  tar zxvf [PATCH_NAME.tgz] (A new directory with the patch name will be created.)
    3. Change to the new directory created:   cd [PATCH_NAME]/
    4. Enter sh patchme.sh
    5. Type the Junos Space password for all nodes. (Password should be the same for all nodes.)
    6. A success message will be displayed once the patch has been installed on all the nodes (one node, if standalone).

    Method 2
Install individually on all the nodes. These steps must be executed on all nodes in the fabric. These steps should be performed on the VIP node first and then on the other nodes.
    1. Transfer the [PATCH_NAME].tgz under /home/admin (using Winscp, filezilla, etc)
    2. Untar the file:  tar zxvf [PATCH_NAME].tgz (A new directory with the patch name will be created.)
    3. Change to the new directory created:  cd [PATCH_NAME]/
    4. Enter sh patchme.sh LOCAL
    5. Type the Junos Space password for the specific node.
    6. A success message will be displayed once the patch has been installed in the individual node.
    7. After following this process on VIP node, repeat from step a on all the other nodes.
