Description

This article explains how to upgrade the driver on the Virtium SSD drives on NFX platforms

Solution

To upgrade the firmware on the Virtium SSD drive on your NFX device, the NFX must be running either Junos 15.1X53-D47.4, or 17.3R1.

  1. First, identify the drive you are using.

  2. Log into JDM, and enter the following command

show version local detail | match Model

Refer to the following table:

NFX Model SSD Drive
nfx250_att_s1_10_t 200 GB Primary / 25 GB Backup
nfx250_att_ls1_10_t 100 GB
nfx250_10_t 100 GB
nfx250_ls1_10_t 100 GB
nfx250_aws_ls1_10_t 100 GB
nfx250_s1e 200 GB Primary / 25 GB Backup

The firmware update can be found at: Junos-NFX Software Download .
  1. Check that you're on the Software  tab.
  2. Select the appropriate drive file based on the SSD capacity indicated in the show system firmware output.
  3. Save the binary file matching your drive
  4. Then copy it to /var/tmp on JDM of your NFX device.

On the NFX, on JDM, upgrade the SSD firmware using the following command:

root@jdm> request system firmware upgrade ssd primary /var/third-party/ISP2246_0626_100gb_ssd.bin
Copying file /var/third-party/ISP2246_0626_100gb_ssd.bin...
Running upgrade...
fwdownload: xfer_mode=3 min=1 max=512 size=512

/dev/sda:

....... Done.
