Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP) traffic fails after upgrading to Junos 12.3X48 on SRX. Due to a behavior change in checking the protocol payload introduced in Junos 12.3X48, the SCTP traffic must be manually enabled on this Junos release.

After upgrading SRX devices to Junos 12.3X48, SCTP links go down.

In some scenarios, it has been observed to be inconsistent across the nodes of a cluster. For example, this traffic may work on one node but NOT on other.

Due to a behavior change in checking the protocol payload introduced in Junos 12.3X48, the SCTP traffic must be manually enabled on this Junos release.

After the upgrade, m3ua traffic must be manually enabled using the following commands,

set security gprs sctp profile sctp_prof_1 permit payload-protocol m3ua

OR

set security gprs sctp profile scp_prof_1 permit payload-protocol all
