On EX2300 and EX3400 platforms, if the switch has been powered off for a couple of days, it boots with the default date of 1970-01-01 when it is again powered on. If NTP is configured on the switch at this time, the system clock might be set to an incorrect date---for example, 2038-01-01---which results in all protocols and timer-related functionality being affected. This article describes how to set the correct time from uboot.

In order to set the correct time, execute the following steps:

1. Delete the NTP configuration.

2. Reboot the device and enter the boot mode by pressing Control+C.

3. Set the date in the following format:
   
   eg: => rtc set yymmdd hhmmss
   
    
4. Reset:
   
   => reset
    
5. Confirm with the CLI command o/p show system uptime   that the time is same as that set from u-boot.
