This article explains how to determine if an end-of-life (EOL) physical interface card (PIC) is a Type 1 PIC or a Type 2 PIC by looking at the PIC itself.

End-of-Life (EOL) PICs for the M Series and T Series routers do not contain "Type 1" or "Type 2" in their part description like their newer counterparts do. This can lead to problems with part replacement when trying to determine the type of PIC to replace in a Type 1 or Type 2 flexible PIC concentrator (FPC).

The difference between Type 1 and Type 2 PICs can be determined by looking at the PIC. A Type 1 PIC has a hole near the upper screw. A Type 2 PIC is missing this hole.
