This article describes the following syslog message:

CHASSISD_CLOCK_NOTICE

This message indicates that there has been a change in the clock synchronization between the router and the server. This article describes a method of diagnosing this message.

Note: This message is supported only on the following devices:

  • M320

  • M40e

  • M120

  • T320

  • T640

  • T1600

  • PTX Series Packet Transport Switches.

Symptoms

Customers may notice the following message in the syslog messages of their router:

CHASSISD_CLOCK_NOTICE

Solution

This message indicates that there has been a change in the clock synchronization between the router and the server.

To verify the cause of this error message, run the following command:

router@RE0> show chassis synchronization

That command will display an output similar to this:

What is typically the case is the that server has changed. As seen above, the primary server is off-frequency for both CBs, which indicates that it is likely an issue on the server side. If the server is in a different state for each CB, then this indicates a likely issue with the router.
