This article explains how to address the following alarm:

2013-05-22 16:08:16 PDT Minor Mix of ENH-PEMs

The solution is to insert Power Entry Modules (PEMs) of the same type. This alarm does not impact service.

Symptoms

After swapping a PEM you may encounter the following alarm:

2013-05-22 16:08:16 PDT Minor Mix of ENH-PEMs

This is not a failure alarm and can easily be resolved.


Solution

The enhanced Power Entry Module (ENH-PEM) alarm is due to a mix of different PEM types.

For Example:

PEM 0 is PS 1.4-2.52kW; 90-264V AC in - MX480/MX240 2520W AC P/S, Base Bundle

PEM 1 is PS 1.2-1.7kW; 100-240V AC in - MX480 1200W AC P/S, Spare


Note: Notice the difference in power ratings between the installed PEMs.

This alarm can be cleared by inserting PEMs of the same type.

If that fails and the alarm continues, please contact JTAC to investigate the issue further.
