This article describes the issue of the > request support information command taking an hour to generate only a few Gb of data in 12.2+ on a MX device.
Junos 12.2 or later versions were enhanced with certain additional commands in Request Support Information (RSI). One of these new commands ( show shmlog entries log name all ) takes a very long time to complete in certain environments.
This command is meant for Broadband Edge (BBE) deployments and may not be useful on other MX deployments. The engineering team is working on intelligence to identify which MX configurations are for BBE and adjust the output of RSI accordingly. This effort is tracked under PR848170 .
