Description

This article provides information on how to clear the pme 2 : Link Down and pme 3 : Link Down alarms on QFX3000-G.

Symptoms

  • On the CB board of QF/IC on the QFX3000-G system, there are 4 PME ports and CB of QF/IC uses 2 ports ( pme0 and pme1 ) for each CPE switch device. But in a specific case, the chassis alarm reports that the pme 2 and pme 3 links are down:

  • Actually, ports 2 and 3 are not used; but the chassis alarm is active for them and the LED is Red.

Solution

  • Currently, the use of these ports for the CPE connection in the CPE connection instruction is not supported.
  • If RJ45 SFPs are inserted into the CB's pme2-3 slots, these alarms are raised.

This issue can be resolved by removing the above mentioned SFPs.
