Description

This article provides information on how to configure and install two new hard drives on QFX3100 (Director).

Symptoms

  • QFX-3100 has two 2 Terabyte (TB) hard disk drive (HDD) modules that provide storage for the Director device.
  • These two HDDs are part of RAID-1(Redundant Array of Independent Disks) to provide redundancy.
  • The HDD modules are field-replaceable and hot-swappable.
  • However, if both the HDDs need to be replaced, then RAID-1 needs to be re-configured.

Solution

To install the HDDs on QFX3100, refer to the following link:

http://www.juniper.net/techpubs/en_US/release-independent/junos/topics/task/installation/hdd-module-qfxctrl-installing.html

When the new HDDs are installed on the QFX3100 system, perform the following procedure to create a new RAID:

  1. When the system is booting, look for one of the following messages:
    LSI Corporation MPT SAS BIOS
    MPTBIOS-6.30.00.00 (2009.11.12)
    Copyright 2000-2009 LSI Corporation.

Press Ctrl-C to start LSI Corp Configuration Utility... < Press Ctrl-C here

  • Press Ctrl-C to enter the RAID config utility. The following message will be displayed:

Please wait, invoking SAS Configuration Utility...

LSI Corp Configuration Utility will load following initialization!

Wait for the following screen to be displayed and press Enter to select the default adapter ( C1068E ):
