This article describes the issue of a child link being removed from a AE bundle and re-attached to it in Junos.

• In Junos releases 10.4R6, 10.4R7, 11.1R6, and 11.2R3, with the minimum-links option configured on an aggregate interface, this issue might occur.
• If an aggregate bundle goes down due to 2 or more minimum-links being configured, bundle member links might not attach to the bundle; once the aggregate bundle comes back up.
• Outbound traffic will not use an affected member link (no black holing) and inbound traffic for such a member link is properly processed and forwarded.
• Customers who use aggregate interfaces, which are configured with the minimum-links option, are discouraged from using affected releases of Junos software.

When a member link goes down, it may not get instantly re-attached to the bundle, when it comes back up

Junos software has been modified to correct the defect. The modified code is available in Junos releases 10.4R8, 11.2R4, and 11.4R1 or later.

As a workaround, when a member link goes down and does not get re-attached to the aggregate interface, an operator can deactivate the member link and then activate it. This sequence will re-attach the link to the aggregate interface, which enables it to resume the carrying of traffic. This issue is being tracked under PR 695895 .
