Description

This article describes the issue of aggregate ethernet link flap being generated in log messages on the new backup RE, when a graceful RE switchover occurs.


Symptoms

When a graceful routing-engine switchover occurs, aggregate ethernet link flap is generated in log messages on the new backup RE:

Note : The 'Last Flapped' time in the output of 'show interface ae <x> extensive' does not show this timestamp, which indicates that the link never actually flapped.

Solution

This message is generated, as a result of the kysncd daemon on the RE flushing out the kernel states and re-syncing with the new primary RE after switchover.

This is expected behavior.
