Description

This article describes the issue of security log messages not being in sync with the NTP server, after a change in the time zone.

Symptoms

Security log messages not being in sync with the NTP server, after a change in the time zone.

Solution

On SPC-based systems, when a time zone is configured on a device, it gets applied only to the RE and will not be pushed to the PFE. The data plane logs are generated in the PFE; rather than the routing engine. This is the reason behind the data plane logs not containing the updated timestamp.

Note : This does not apply to the control plane logs as these are generated in the routing engine itself.

A recovery method is to restart the SPCs or reboot the device.
