Description

This article describes the issue of being unable to install a new web filtering license, after a UTM bundled license is renewed.

Symptoms

  • The old UTM bundled license has expired. The renewed license was generated by Customer Care.

  • The new web filtering license cannot be installed in the system.

Solution

The renewed license is an Enhanced Web-Filtering license, which is supported only on Junos 11.4R1 or later.

Customer Care generates the newest version of the UTM license, when it is renewed. For web-filtering, the newest version of the license is EWF (Enhanced Web-Filtering). However, this can only be run on branch devices, which run Junos 11.4R1 or higher. So, to use this license, your device must be upgraded to Junos 11.4R1 or later.

Note : The old Surf Control license can be ordered only up to 4/30/2012. After this date, only the EWF license can be ordered. The old Surf Control license will still remain in effect through the duration of the license.
