Description

This article provides information about Junos Space Virtual Appliance licensing.  Customers, who are evaluating Junos Space Virtual Appliance, may have questions about licensing, as it pertains to Junos Space and the VMware ESX server.

Symptoms

  • Evaluation versions of Junos Space Virtual Appliance are provided with an evaluation license.
  • In some cases, customers may want to license the evaluation virtual appliance and move it to another VMware server.

What happens to Junos Space licenses, if VMware changes:

  • if Junos Space VM is relocated from one VMware license to another one (for example, VMware licensing is upgraded to a different licensing model).
  • If Junos Space VM is moved from one VMware installation to another one (for example, two VMware VCenter Environments at the same company; but isolated from one another).
  • If Junos Space VM is moved between nodes in the VMware installation; that is if VMware tools are used to relocate the Junos Space VM from one physical node to another one.

Solution

The Junos Space licensing dependency on VMware licenses is unclear.

The Junos Space licensing is not tied to the VMware license. In the above mentioned scenarios, the Space VM should be portable with no license changes required.
