Description

This article describes the issue of being unable to pass multicast IGMPv3 traffic, in a SRX cluster, using the Routed VLAN Interface (RVI).

Symptoms

  • Multicast using IGMPv3.
  • SRX branch in a cluster.
  • IGMP configured on Routed VLAN Interface (RVI).

Solution

There is a limitation using multicast IGMPv3 on a branch cluster, when the VLAN interface is used.  As of the writing of this article (JUNOS 11.4), this is not supported.  IGMPv3 is supported on branch devices; but if you want to run this in a cluster, IGMP must be enabled on a non-VLAN interface (RETH interface is fine).  If you need to run this on a VLAN interface, this must be used in a non-clustered and standalone mode.
