Description

This article explains how to enable eth3 instead of eth0 as the device management interface in a Junos Space device, via the Space WebUI.

Symptoms

  • Network configuration settings are performed during the initial installation of the Junos Space device.
  • During installation, you can specify eth0 for SSH and the device management interface, or eth0 as the SSH management interface and eth3 as the device management interface.
  • You can also separately configure eth3 as the device management interface, at any point, via the Junos Space WebUI.

Solution

Note: eth1 and eth2 are not supported on the Junos Space device.

Generally eth3 is used for a device management subnet if the managed devices are non-routable, or on an out-of-band management subnet. For more information on eth0 and eth3 usage, refer:  Using Ethernet Interfaces eth0 and eth3 in Junos Space

  1. Launch the Junos Space WebUI and click Platform ; go to Administration > Fabric > Space Node Settings  and double-click the <fabric name> .

  • Select the Enable Device Interface checkbox. Enter the required information for IP , Netmask , and Gateway .

Note : The eth3 interface should be in a different subnet from eth0.

  • Click OK , Modify, and then Update Devices . Confirm your changes:

  • After a few minutes, the Junos Space WebUI will prompt you to click either the Reboot or Shutdown option, to modify the configuration settings. Select the appropriate option.

After successfully rebooting, connect via SSH to the Junos Space IP (eth 0) and run the ifconfig command to view the configuration changes, as shown below:
