This article provides information on how to halt the line cards with a dual RE on EX8200.

Symptoms

When EX8200 is required to be halted, due to some reasons, there are several different ways to do so, as per the version.


Solution

 

Previous version of 10.0R4:

  1. > request chassis fpc offline slot <slot-num>

  • > request system halt both-routing-engines

At first, It needs to halt the line cards.

From version 10.0R4 to 10.4R2 (with GRES disabled):

  1. > request system halt both-routing-engines power-off fpc

The power-off fpc command can be used from the following versions:

  10.0R4, 10.1R4, 10.2R3, 10.3R2, 10.4R1, and 11.1R1.


From version 10.0R4 to 10.4R2 (with GRES enabled)

  1. # deactivate chassis redundancy graceful-switchover

  • > request system halt both-routing-engines power-off fpc
At first, It needs to deactivate the GRES.

The power-off fpc command can be used from the following versions:

  10.0R4, 10.1R4, 10.2R3, 10.3R2, 10.4R1, and 11.1R1.


From version 10.4R3 and later:

  1. > request system halt both-routing-engines
The line cards will be halted immediately once the RE is halted. This modification change is available from the following versions:

  10.4R3 and 11.1R1.
