Symptoms

Increased temperature leading to the TX matrix Switch-Card and Line-Card components to be shut down.

Solution

 

The temperature shutdown behavior is localized to each chassis; which means that increased temperature at SCC is isolated to only SCC.

Each LCC will remain powered up, as long as LCC's local temperature is low. However, losing SCC (TX matrix router in the routing Matrix) from the multi-chassis system means that the entire system is lost, as there is no controller for hanging LCCs.

  • When the Switch-Card Chassis (SCC) promotes increased temperature shutdown, does LCC also shuts down?

    Yes
  • When Line-Card Chassis (LCC) promotes over temperature shutdown, does SCC also shuts down?

    An LCC being down will not power off SCC, as the system can still use other LCC's.
