Description

This article provides information about the "test access radius-server " operational mode command which does not work on SRX series platforms.

Symptoms

While testing the Dynamic VPN feature on SRX platforms, some customers might try the following command to check issues with Radius Authentication, and it reports the following error:

user@router> test access radius-server
TEST 
user@router> test access radius-server 192.168.1.100 user user password <password> secret "$ABC123"

RESULT 
user@router> test access radius-server 192.168.1.100 user user password <password> secret "$ABC123"
error: the l2tp-service subsystem is not running

 

Solution

This test command is intended for M-series platforms with L2TP service only.  Refer to the KB16503 - Radius Test for M-Series [juniper.net] for more information.

This does not work on SRX series devices. If this is needed on SRX, a feature request with your Juniper sales representative needs to be submitted.
