This KB provides information concerning power supply log messages and related alarms seen with the EX8208 and EX8216.
With multiple power supply units (PSU) installed on an EX8200, and with one or more not connected to a power source (power cord not attached), power log messages will be generated along with an alarm.
EX8200 has a PSU installed but does not have a power cord attached thereby generating the following log messages and alarms below: Oct 8 14:56:04 alarmd[771]: Alarm cleared: Pwr supply color=RED, class=CHASSIS, reason=PSU 5 Output Failure Oct 8 14:56:04 craftd[772]: Major alarm cleared, PSU 5 Output Failure Oct 8 14:56:09 chassisd[770]: CHASSISD_PSU_VOLTAGE: Power supply 4 reports problem; check output voltage Oct 8 14:56:09 alarmd[771]: Alarm set: Pwr supply color=RED, class=CHASSIS, reason=PSU 4 Output Failure Oct 8 14:56:09 craftd[772]: Major alarm set, PSU 4 Output Failure Oct 8 14:56:14 chassisd[770]: CHASSISD_PSU_VOLTAGE: Power supply 4 reports problem; check output voltage Oct 8 14:56:19 chassisd[770]: CHASSISD_PSU_VOLTAGE: Power supply 4 reports problem; check output voltage This is default behavior on the EX8208 and EX8216.
