A syslog message similar to the following is reported:
init: %AUTH-3: routing (PID 4350) terminated by signal number 6. Core dumped! init utmd (PID 7125) terminated by signal number 11. Core dumped! init: dhcp (PID 71916) terminated by signal number 6. Core dumped! init: %AUTH-3: snmp (PID 16139) terminated by signal number 6. Core dumped! /kernel: %KERN-6: pid 16139 (snmpd), uid 0: exited on signal 6 (core dumped)
A message is logged each time a process crashes and causes a core dump to be generated.
The cause may be due to either an internal software error or associated hardware being in a state that is not expected.
Perform these steps to determine the cause and resolve the problem (if any):
Collect the show command output to help determine the cause of this message.
Capture the output to a file (in case you have to open a technical support case). To do this, configure each SSH client/terminal emulator to log your session.
show system core-dumps show version show system uptime show log messages show log chassisd
Analyze the show command output. Look for any related events that occurred at or just before the core dumped or daemon crash message.
