Troubleshooting steps to get the Pulse client downloaded to your PC.

Symptoms

Symptom:

  • Pulse client is not downloaded to PC

Solution


Perform the follow steps to solve the problem:

step1    From your Internet Browser, navigate to the Dynamic VPN URL: 

               http:// <Dynamic VPN IKE external interface IP address>   or
               https:// <Dynamic VPN IKE external interface IP address>

Depending on your browser settings, you may get a 'This Connection is Untrusted' message.  If so, add the Security Exception for https:// <srx ip address> /dynamic-vpn

  Is the Juniper ‘User Login’ window displayed?

step2    From your PC, can you ping the public IP address of the SRX device?
       
(Note: The ping service needs to be enabled on the SRX public interface to do a ping test; for more information, refer to KB17281 - Verify reachability to a SRX device [juniper.net] .)



step3    On the 'User Login' Window, do you see the message 'No license available?

step4   On the 'User Login' Window, enter your Username and Password'?

Do you get the message 'Invald username or password'?

  • Yes  - On the SRX, is the Dynamic VPN 'Access Configuration' configured with RADIUS or Local authentication? 
  • No - You should be able to download the "Pulse" at this point. Follow the prompts to download the client:


a.  You may be prompted with the following warning.  Select Yes .

b. Select Yes to install the "Junos Pulse" product:

c. The progress of the Dynamic VPN client download is reported as follows:

Notice that: Network applications may temporarily disconnect during the Client download and installation because of the reset of Ethernet Adapters.

d. Click Accept when prompted for the certificate:

  The following message appears.  Save settings and click on "Connect" :

e. Specify username and password (XAuth): It looks like:

If the Pulse client is still not working after downloading and installing Junos Pulse, restart at KB17220 - Resolution Guide - SRX - Troubleshoot Pulse client [juniper.net] .
