Description

Using the SNMP OID's of the chassis operating state we can find out the status of the chassis backplane, power supply , fan, FPC, PIC & RE.

Status:

1- Unknown
2- Up and running
3- Ready to run, not running yet
4- Held in reset, not ready yet
5- Running at Full Speed (valid for fans only)
6- Down or off (for power supply)
7- Running as a standby (Backup)

For example lets do an SNMP walk with an OID to find out the power supply and fan status:

The two power supplies "Power Supply 0" & "Power Supply 1" and both working fine and show "OK" for a status. 
The three fans "Fan 1", "Fan 2", and "Fan 3" are both working fine and show "OK" for a status.

Example of the Power Supply and Fan using OID's and Status Codes:

Both fan and power supply status show status 2 which indicates that they are up and running without fault.

Note: In earlier JUNOS versions the status of the power supply unit shows down (status 6) even though the power supply unit is up and running, while doing SNMP walk for that particular OID. This issue has been fixed in 9.2R3.5, 9.3R2, 9.4R1, 9.5R1 and above for the EX Switch.  Problem Details: This issue was filed for the EX Switch under PR/394661 [jnxOperatingState for Power Supply shows down(6) instead of running(2) ] Any questions concerning this should be directed to Juniper Technical Support.
