How to save rescue config and clear LED Alarm indicator and system alarm "Minor Rescue configuration is not set" .

Symptoms

Physical Alarm LED is indicating ON, but no alarm is showing when performing a 'show chassis alarm'.

Solution

When upgrading to JUNOS 9.5R1 for the EX series Switch the Alarm LED indicator is ON, but no alarm is showing when doing a `show chassis alarms`.  The 'show system alarms' will show the alarm "IST Minor Rescue configuration is not set".  To clear the rescue configuration alarm and physical LED Alarm you must save the rescue configuration.

JUNOS version 9.5R1 introduces alarm for rescue configuration not being saved.   This alarm is displayed under "show system alarms" and not "show chassis alarms".
Once the rescue configuration is saved the front panel alarm LED indicator should clear.

  • To save the rescue config use the following command:
user@switch> request system configuration rescue save

This should clear the front panel alarm LED indicator
