Description

This note explains how to verify that all FPCs can send traffic across all SIBs after an FPC/SIB/Midplane failure in T-Series and M320.

Symptoms

How to quickly detect that all FPCs can send traffic to any egress FPC across all the SIB after either an FPC, SIB or midplane failure on T-Series and M320.  For example, after bringing offline and online a specific SIB (or all SIB one at time), how to check that the Fabric Management is fine at FPC interconnection level.

Solution

When all the fabric planes and FPCs are ready to transmit traffic the following message should be seen in the  chassisd log file :

Mar 3 15:01:18 FM: all line cards ackd!
In addition to the above log, if  you still notice a SIB <n> in CHECK state, bring it offline then online as follows to clear the state :
request chassis sib offline slot n
request chassis sib online slot n

The specific SIB <n> state should switch from CHECK to either ONLINE or SPARE .
