How to set a T3 interface to accept less than full T3 bandwidth
By default T3 interface configuration will use the full 45Mbps bandwidth. However, some providers may provision T3 interface for less than full bandwidth. The Cisco equilavent would be the bandwidth statement.
In lieu of the bandwidth statement on a Cisco router, JUNOS refers to this as subrate. This is configured at the [edit interfaces t3-x/0/0 t3-options compatibility-mode] hierarchy. The most common compatibility mode is digital-link subrate. Example for 15Mb subrate:
[edit] user@router# set interfaces t3-3/0/0 t3-options compatibility-mode digital-link subrate 15.0Mb [edit] user@router# show interfaces t3-3/0/0 clocking external; encapsulation cisco-hdlc; t3-options { compatibility-mode digital-link subrate 15.0Mb; }
