Description

Mist configuration pushes may fail when additional CLI event-options commands contain nested quotation marks that cannot be properly parsed during the configuration comparison process. This results in an XML syntax error and prevents the device from generating the configuration diff required for a successful config push.

Symptoms

  • Mist displays Config Push Failed.
  • Configuration synchronization fails repeatedly.
  • Manual sync does not complete successfully.
  • Commit/configuration comparison errors similar to:

error get-config-diff: Error invoking '<get-configuration compare="rollback" rollback="0" format="xml"></get-configuration>': XML syntax error on line 15: attribute name without = in element , reply: <nil>

  • Affected configuration includes event-options policies executing shell or cprod commands with embedded quotation marks.

Solution

  1. Review Additional CLI commands configured through Mist.
  2. Identify event-options execute-commands statements containing nested quotes.
  3. Remove or modify the offending commands.
  4. Trigger a new configuration synchronization from Mist.
  5. Verify the configuration push completes successfully.
